1,000 Ways to Make Money Online
Ok, maybe I am exaggerating just a bit.
But, figuring out how to start an online business was daunting with so many options.
I spent countless hours researching, reading about courses, getting rich-quick schemes, etc.
I decided that affiliate marketing is how I want to make money online. It didn’t require any money upfront, I did not have to buy products and store them, and I didn’t have to work at something I didn’t feel I would enjoy.
Endless Choices
I came upon this approach while scrolling through mindless, endless ads on Facebook, wasting time and not doing anything productive.
Facebook has algorithms that put certain content before you based on previous searches or how long you have stayed on any particular ad or content. Of course, it caught on that I was interested in some online business due to my scrolling activity.
Most were complete nonsense. Just a bunch of ADS telling me that with no time and effort, I can get rich, yeah, right!
Eventually, I got kind of numb to any of those ads.
I knew I wanted to build my online business with affiliate marketing, but as a beginner, I did not know where to start.
I had some idea because my sister used to have a website, and she would put ads on her website, and anytime someone would click on that ad, she would get a commission from that company. But that was the extent of my knowledge on the subject. Yet, how do I know if that is still how to build an online affiliate marketing business? After all, that way of doing it was over 15 years old, and I wasn’t sure if that was still the way to do affiliate marketing.
Research
I kept researching. And you know how they sometimes say when you least expect something or are not searching for it, you find the perfect match for what you are looking for?
Well, it happened to me.
I came across an ad that encouraged me to read a book called The Iceberg Effect, and all I had to do was pay shipping and handling. It was a book about how to build an online business through affiliate marketing.
I had read so much already, but the book didn’t look too long.
But what caught my eye was that on the front cover was a recommendation by Russell Brunson, an affiliate marketing guru who has made millions with Clickfunnels. He encouraged people to read it not once but more than that.
The book reveals the essential things anyone MUST know to succeed in the new generation of affiliate marketing. No longer are the good old days when you could just put an ad on your website and hope someone would buy that product; more is involved.
I paid the S&H and received the book.
I read it.
I was sold.
Mentorship and Community
Dean Holland, the author and now my mentor, does not propose that you can get rich quickly; he suggests that if you follow the correct process, the money will follow. You don’t have to go at it unthinkingly, which is precisely what I needed.
I soon became a Certified Partner with Internet Profits, Dean’s program, and I joined the Internet Profits Accelerator program, of which I am currently a student. I have all the tools I need with the program, ongoing support, and mentors I can talk to for advice.
I’m grateful because the Facebook community for Internet Profit Certified Partners is active and involved. I can put out a question and get an answer promptly. But not just that, people are supportive and encouraging. You get helpful information and input on your progress. This is an essential part of starting a business.
Learning How to Blog
I’m currently learning how to blog, which is why I am here. I am also learning about blog-hopping because I want to connect and engage with others who are going through the same things I am going through or to learn from them.
I am going to be sharing my journey and process here. All that I do, learn, and soon all the successes and wins. I know this will be up and down sometimes, but nay-sayers will not discourage me.
I know this is the path I want to take; being diligent and consistent in my efforts will produce the results I hope for.
I will share my mistakes in this blog because, hopefully, it will help others not make the same mistakes as I have made.
One such mistake I will share in my following post concerns finding a good domain name and the debate about using a pseudonym or my name. It was a long one and caused me to be immobilized and stuck.
Just out of curiosity . . .
Are you in the process of figuring out how you would like to make money online? What are you thinking about? Have you decided, and if so, what was the outcome? Do you feel you have the support you need to keep going? I would love to hear your comments!
